Pollard School Principal
Principal of the Pollard School at Billerica Centre, opened in 1896. At first the building held the town's grammar grades, and the teacher of the top grammar (later ninth-grade) class served as principal. When grades 7 and 8 moved to the new Howe High School building in 1916, the Pollard became a grade 1-6 elementary school. The principal also taught a class until the 1960s, and in the 1960s often also oversaw the Old Howe elementary classes. The Pollard closed about 1980 because of falling enrollment.
